The Passion of Firaq - Swati Sani

About The Product:

This anthology of Firaq’s works presents carefully curated couplets from his ghazals in Urdu, Devanagari, and Roman scripts, accompanied by their English translations. The book introduces Firaq’s life and poetic style, providing valuable context to his works. It also includes a translated article by Shamim Hanfi titled Firaq and The New Ghazal. Firaq Gorakhpuri is a lover of all things beautiful. Though he writes of love, a deep pain permeates his poetry, and he yearns for his beloved even in her presence. Loneliness and quietude of the vast night form a dreamy backdrop to several of his ghazals and nazms. His love transcends personal longing, exploring the origins of solitude and connecting it to the stillness of the cosmos, contemplating the mysteries that enshroud it. After a successful 22-year tenure leading a software firm, Swati Sani turned to her passion for the Urdu language by earning an M.A. degree in Urdu Literature. She now dedicates most of her time to serving the enchanting world of Urdu Literature. Author of four popular books on Urdu poetry translation, The Eloquence of Ghalib, The Fervor of Mir, The Magic of Sahir and Verses in Bloom, She aspires to make Urdu poetry available to those who love Urdu but struggle with the nuances of the language. A Science graduate and an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Mass Communications, New Delhi, she has also worked in the Advertising Industry for nine years before embarking on her entrepreneurial journey.
